Introduction

Mimeeq has introduced a new feature to speed up your workflow: Global Templates for Widgets. This improvement allows you to manage widget settings across multiple configurators from a single location. By implementing global templates, you'll significantly reduce the time spent setting up individual configurators, as you can apply standardized widget settings with just a few clicks.

Global Templates are currently available only for Filter and Thumbnail widgets. Additional widget types will be supported in future updates.

This guide explains the key differences between Local Settings and Global Templates, how to configure them, and how to apply them to a configurator.

Local Settings vs Global Template: What's the Difference?

Global Templates

Global Templates are predefined widget settings that can be applied to multiple configurators simultaneously. When you update a Global Template, all configurators using that template will automatically inherit those changes, ensuring consistency across your offer.

Local Settings

Local Settings are widget settings that apply only to the specific configurator where they are set. Changes to Local Settings affect only that individual configurator and don't impact other configurators in your offer.

How to Create a Global Template

  1. Navigate to Settings
  2. Look for the new parent item called Widgets
  3. Select Filter or Thumbnails Widget
  4. You'll see a list of options that serve as Global Templates
  5. Configure the settings according to your preferences
  6. Save your changes

If you already have configurator pages open, reload them to see your changes there. New sessions will automatically show updated settings.

Using a Global Template

  1. Open the configurator you want to modify
  2. Navigate to Options and open Filter or Thumbnails widget

How to Apply Global Template to a Configurator

Using Local Settings

  1. Access the same "Widget Source" dropdown menu in your configurator
  2. Select "Local Settings" from the dropdown
  3. Configure the settings as needed for this specific configurator (these local settings will apply only to this individual configurator)
  4. Save your changes to apply these unique settings

How to Apply Local Settings to a Configurator

When creating new configurators, you can choose between Global Template or Local Settings right from the start.

Best Practices

  • Use Global Templates when you want many configurators to look the same. This works well for configurators in the same category or collection.
  • Keep Local Settings for special configurators that need their own unique appearance or functionality.
  • When making big changes to a Global Template, test it on a few configurators first to make sure it looks good before applying it everywhere.
  • Consider using Global Templates for new configurators to save setup time from the beginning.
  • Remember that you can always switch between Local and Global Settings if your needs change for a particular configurator.
