F/Tear Sheet Settings and Customization Guide

Overview

The Mimeeq 3D Configurator includes powerful PDF generation capabilities that allow you to create customized tear sheets for your configured products. This guide covers how to set up and customize your PDF output to match your branding requirements.

PDF Settings Location

PDF settings can be configured at multiple levels in the Mimeeq platform:

Embed Template Level

The primary settings for PDF generation are found in the Embed Templates section. These settings control how PDFs will appear when generated from a specific embedded configurator on your website.

To access PDF settings:

  1. Navigate to the Embed Templates section
  2. Select the desired embed template
  3. Locate the "PDF Settings" section

Available PDF Customization Options

Branding Elements

Your company logo can be displayed on generated PDFs:

  1. Upload your logo in the "Settings > Contact Details" section
  2. Ensure the "Hide Logo" option is not selected in your PDF settings

Font Selection

You can customize the font used in your PDFs:

  1. In the PDF Settings section on Embed Template level, locate the "Font Family" dropdown
  2. Select your preferred font from the available options

Product Name/Title

The product name that appears in the PDF is taken from the "Display Name" field of the product (general tab on the product level). You can edit this to create custom PDF titles like "Collection Name" or "Designer Tool".

Description/Disclaimer Text

The description field at the product level (general tab) is used to add disclaimer text or other information to your PDFs:

  1. Navigate to the product settings
  2. Edit the "Description" field with your desired text (e.g., disclaimers about digital colors, sizing information, etc.)

SKU Configuration for Unique PDF Filenames

A key aspect of PDF management is configuring your SKUs properly to ensure each downloaded PDF has a unique, descriptive filename.

Benefits of Configured SKUs

  • Each PDF download will have a unique filename based on the selected configuration
  • Easier organization of multiple PDF downloads
  • Configuration details embedded in the filename for quick reference

How to Configure Dynamic SKUs

  1. Navigate to the product's "Pricing and Code" section
  2. Configure the base SKU for the product
  3. For each option set contributing to the configuration:
  • Navigate to the option set
  • For each option, set an appropriate "Code" value
  • You can also use any other code in SKU field, for instance, "Price Code"
  • These codes will be combined to create a unique SKU for each configuration

When properly configured, your SKU might look like: BASECODE-SQ-C1-C2-C3 where:

  • BASE is the product's base SKU
  • SQ might represent a square shape option
  • C1, C2, C3 might represent different color selections

Even with "Hide SKU" enabled in your PDF settings, this unique SKU will still be used for the filename of downloaded PDFs.

PDF Generation Methods

Users can generate PDFs in two ways:

  1. Using the "Generate PDF" button in the configurator interface
  2. Clicking the "Finish" button followed by the "Generate PDF" option,
Note: This might be disabled if you have add to cart enabled at the finish button

Advanced Customization

While many customization options are available through the standard settings, some advanced customizations (such as custom PDF layouts or additional text fields) may require custom development services. Contact your Mimeeq representative to discuss advanced customization requirements or if you have an experienced developer check out our PDF developer Docs https://docs.mimeeq.com/pdf-customization/

Best Practices

  • Always configure SKUs for your configurable products to ensure unique PDF filenames
  • Use clear, concise disclaimer text that adds value without overwhelming the design
  • Test your PDF generation with different configuration combinations to verify the output

A: PDF settings are configured at the embed template level, so you can have different settings for different embed templates.

Q: How do I update my company logo on PDFs?
A: Upload a new logo under Settings > Contact Details to update it across all PDFs.
