What Is the Packshot Generator

The Packshot Generator is an AI-powered tool within Mimeeq AI Studio that lets you create professional, studio-quality packshot images of your products. Instead of setting up a physical photography studio with controlled lighting, backdrops, and camera equipment, you simply provide your product image and the tool generates a polished packshot ready for use.
This is particularly useful for creating clean product imagery such as:
- E-commerce product listings — Generate crisp, consistent product photos with professional lighting and clean backgrounds for your online store.
- Catalogue and datasheet imagery — Produce uniform packshot images across your entire product range without repeated studio sessions.
- Marketing and sales materials — Create polished product visuals for brochures, presentations, or digital campaigns.
Because the Packshot Generator works directly with your Mimeeq configurator, every product variation you've set up can be turned into a studio-quality packshot — meaning you can generate professional imagery for hundreds of combinations without any additional photography.
How to Use the Packshot Generator

The Packshot Generator workflow is divided into three sections: Object (1), Image Settings (2), and Details & Comments (3).
Step 1 — Add Your Object
When you open the Packshot Generator, you are first asked to upload an object — the product you want to create a studio packshot for. There are two ways to do this:
Option A: Capture from the Mimeeq Configurator

Click the capture option to see a list of your products from the Mimeeq app. Select a product, configure it to the variation you need, position it at the desired angle, and capture it.
Option B: Upload an Image

Alternatively, you can upload an image of your product directly from your device or media library. This is helpful if you're working with a product that isn't set up in the Mimeeq configurator.
Once your object is uploaded, select the Input Source Type. This tells the AI how to treat your uploaded image.

There are two modes:
Mode | Best For | Description |
WebGL Render(default) | 3D configurator captures | Optimised for 3D renders. The AI detects and corrects common rendering artefacts and enhances the realism of the product image. |
Photograph | Uploaded product photos | Treats the input as a real photograph. Use this to preserve original photo details. |
Step 2 — Configure Image Settings

Before generating, you can adjust the following output settings:
Setting | Options | Description |
Aspect Ratio | Various presets | Choose the dimensions of the output image to suit your intended use (e.g. square for social media, wide for web banners). |
Quality | 2K, 4K | Higher quality produces sharper, more detailed images but uses more credits (see below). |
Background color | Automatic | The AI automatically selects a background colour that complements and matches your product. |
| Custom Colour | Manually pick a specific background colour from a colour palette. |
Step 3 — Add Details and Comments (Optional)

The Details and Comments section provides a free-text area where you can add any additional instructions for the AI. For example, you might use this to:
- Request a specific camera angle or perspective — e.g. "Low-angle shot looking slightly upward to make the product feel more prominent"
- Ask for certain objects or props to be added to the shot* **— e.g. *"Place a coffee cup and a notebook next to the product"
- Add any specific adjustments — e.g. "Add a subtle reflection beneath the product as if it's sitting on a glossy surface"
This field is entirely optional, but experimenting with it can help you fine-tune the output to better match your vision.
Step 4 — Generate Your Packshot

Once you have added your object (and optionally configured your image settings and added comments), click the Generate button. The AI will process your inputs and produce the result.
Generated image is automatically saved to the Media Library, where you can:
- Download it for use on your website, online store, or campaigns.
- Use it as an input in other Mimeeq AI Studio tools.
- Continue generating additional variations.
What Affects the Number of Credits per Generation
The Packshot Generator uses a credit-based system. The credit cost is determined by the image quality you select.
Base Cost per Image
Quality | Credits per Image |
2K | 30 credit |
4K | 60 credits |
Tips for Best Results
- Choose the correct input source type. If you captured your product from the Mimeeq configurator, keep the default WebGL Render mode. Switch to Photograph mode only when working with uploaded photos of physical products.
- Adjust padding to control composition. Use lower padding for close-up, product-focused shots and higher padding when you need more breathing room around the product.
- Use Automatic background for speed. The AI does a good job of selecting a complementary background colour. Switch to Custom Colour when you need to match specific brand guidelines.
- Experiment with the Details and Comments field. Even small instructions like "slight overhead angle" or "soft warm lighting" can noticeably influence the result.
