How to Create Restricted Access to Configurators in Mimeeq: A Step-by-Step Guide
Overview
This guide explains how to restrict specific configurators to certain customer groups in Mimeeq.
Creating Company Groups
- Navigate to Settings
- Select Data from the left menu
- Click on Company Groups
- Click Create to make a new company group
- Enter a friendly name (e.g., "Customers Group 1")
- The new group will open automatically for further configuration
Configuring Company Group Settings
Basic Settings
- Set the group Status to Active (required for the group to function)
- Review the Can Export 3D permission if you want to control 3D file exporting for this group
Note: The 3D export permission works in conjunction with your customer settings. To configure this:
- Go to Settings → Account
- Scroll to Show Export 3D Button
- Select your preferred option:
- Private: Only your company (Tier 1) users can export
- Public: Everyone can export
- Restricted: Only specified company groups can export
Adding Companies to Groups
- Click the Companies Connected tab
- Click Add to select companies to include in this group
- Select the desired companies for this group.
- Click Save
Important: A dealer/company can belong to multiple groups. Access permissions will be combined (if a company belongs to two groups, they'll have access to products restricted to either group).
Restricting Product Access
- Go to the Products datagrid in the admin panel
- Select the product you want to restrict
- On the General tab, scroll to Status and Availability section
- Find the Privacy Condition dropdown
- Select one of the following options:
- Private: Only visible to your company's users (Tier 1)
- Public: Visible to everyone
- Restricted To: Available only to specific company groups (Tier 2)
- If you select Restricted To, you'll see available company groups on the left
- Drag the desired company groups to the right side side (restricted list)
- Click Save
How Access Validation Works
When a user attempts to access a restricted configurator:
- The system checks if the user is logged in
- It verifies if the user's company is connected to a company group
- It confirms if that company group has permission to access the specific product
Important Notes
- Product Group Embeds: You cannot restrict entire product group embeds, only individual configurators within the group
- Best Practice: When using product group embeds, restrict the individual configurators as needed
- All products with Private or Restricted To settings require user login to access
This is only available to the customers who use the Mimeeq auth library
