# Basket Pricing Rules

Apply discounts and extra charges to the Basket total automatically. Learn how to set rule scope, conditions and actions, and manage your pricing rules.

Pricing rules adjust the Basket total by applying discounts or adding extra charges, such as partner-specific discounts or delivery fees. You can configure rules based on Basket value or custom fields, and set the currency and customer scope. Adjustments can be a fixed amount or a percentage of the Basket total.

## Rule settings

Configure the basic details and scope of the pricing rule.

<table><thead><tr><th width="54.87890625">#</th><th>Name</th><th>Description</th></tr></thead><tbody><tr><td>1</td><td><strong>Internal Rule Name</strong></td><td>Name visible only to the admin for easy navigation</td></tr><tr><td>2</td><td><strong>Currency</strong></td><td>Select the currency for which the rule applies</td></tr><tr><td>3</td><td><strong>Rule Applies To</strong></td><td>Choose the user scope from a dropdown</td></tr></tbody></table>

![Rule settings with internal rule name, currency and Rule Applies To fields](https://621103948-files.gitbook.io/~/files/v0/b/gitbook-x-prod.appspot.com/o/spaces%2FsqWfi8ifBhTdkvf1vOlY%2Fuploads%2FnLMKDzF9s3bT7xfbkb3o%2Fpricing-rule-image-2-new_1oku59o.png?alt=media)

To define the scope of the rule, choose one of these options:

<table><thead><tr><th width="57.8671875">#</th><th>Option</th><th>Who the rule applies to</th></tr></thead><tbody><tr><td>1</td><td><strong>Everyone</strong></td><td>All users</td></tr><tr><td>2</td><td><strong>Not Logged In Visitors</strong></td><td>Only users who are not logged in</td></tr><tr><td>3</td><td><strong>Only Logged In Users</strong></td><td>Only logged-in users</td></tr><tr><td>4</td><td><strong>Specific Company Groups</strong></td><td>Company Groups you select from a multi-select dropdown</td></tr></tbody></table>

## Pricing rule groups

A pricing rule can contain multiple groups, each combining its own conditions and actions. This lets you cover several cases for the same currency and scope within a single rule.

Each group has these key components:

* **Group Name:** a distinct name for easy identification.
* **Conditions:** determine when the rule is triggered.
* **Actions:** specify what happens when the conditions are met.

![Pricing rule group showing the group name, conditions and actions](https://621103948-files.gitbook.io/~/files/v0/b/gitbook-x-prod.appspot.com/o/spaces%2FsqWfi8ifBhTdkvf1vOlY%2Fuploads%2FW4QNyrtDCEY328bdhEFg%2Fpricing-rule-image-3_28qq0x.png?alt=media)

## Conditions

Conditions define when the rule is triggered. Two trigger types are currently supported:

<table><thead><tr><th width="52.2890625">#</th><th>Trigger type</th><th>Triggers based on</th></tr></thead><tbody><tr><td>1</td><td><strong>Basket Value</strong></td><td>The total Basket value</td></tr><tr><td>2</td><td><strong>Custom Fields</strong></td><td>A specific value selected in a Basket custom field</td></tr></tbody></table>

### Basket value

The Basket value trigger supports these conditions:

* **Is Equal**
* **Is Greater Than**
* **Is Greater Than or Equal**
* **Is Less Than**
* **Is Less Than or Equal**

**Example:** apply a 10% discount to Baskets with a value greater than $5,000.

![Condition applying a 10% discount when the Basket value is greater than $5,000](https://621103948-files.gitbook.io/~/files/v0/b/gitbook-x-prod.appspot.com/o/spaces%2FsqWfi8ifBhTdkvf1vOlY%2Fuploads%2F8kwWVMpRrF3WSPsVsoBD%2Fpricing-rule-image-4_oi4o3v.png?alt=media)

### Custom fields

The custom field trigger fires based on a specific custom field selection. Choose the relevant custom field and specify one or more of its values. For example, select a "Delivery Type" field and apply different actions depending on the option chosen.

{% hint style="info" %}
Currently, only single-select custom fields in the Basket are supported, with plans to expand to other types in the future. To create and use custom fields in the Basket, see [Custom Fields](/platform/custom-fields/custom-fields.md).
{% endhint %}

**Example:** apply an additional 5% charge when the selected delivery type is Standard Delivery.

![Condition adding a 5% charge when the Delivery Type custom field is Standard Delivery](https://621103948-files.gitbook.io/~/files/v0/b/gitbook-x-prod.appspot.com/o/spaces%2FsqWfi8ifBhTdkvf1vOlY%2Fuploads%2FamE5GD54lxsKE1SIZlQm%2Fpricing-rule-image-5_1gd4iuh.png?alt=media)

### Combining conditions

Combine Basket value and custom field conditions to apply actions only when all selected conditions are met.

**Example:** set up two groups in one rule for Standard Delivery charges:

<table><thead><tr><th width="44.71484375">#</th><th>Group</th><th>Basket value</th><th>Delivery type</th><th>Action</th></tr></thead><tbody><tr><td>1</td><td>Group 1</td><td>Greater than or equal to $5,000.00</td><td>Standard Delivery</td><td>Additional 5% charge</td></tr><tr><td>2</td><td>Group 2</td><td>Less than or equal to $4,999.00</td><td>Standard Delivery</td><td>Additional 10% charge</td></tr></tbody></table>

## Actions

Actions define the outcome when the conditions are met. The table below lists the configurable fields.

<table><thead><tr><th width="62.20703125">#</th><th width="152.82421875">Name</th><th>Description</th></tr></thead><tbody><tr><td>1</td><td><strong>Name</strong></td><td>The label displayed to customers during Basket submission, for example "Partner Discount"</td></tr><tr><td>2</td><td><strong>Type</strong></td><td>The type of adjustment: <strong>Addition</strong> (an extra charge) or <strong>Discount</strong> (a reduction)</td></tr><tr><td>3</td><td><strong>Reason</strong></td><td>Additional information customers see on hover, giving context for the adjustment, for example "Enjoy a 10% discount as a thank you for our partnership"</td></tr><tr><td>4</td><td><strong>Scope</strong></td><td>How multiple actions are applied: <strong>All</strong> (applies all actions), <strong>Max</strong> (applies the action with the highest value) or <strong>Min</strong> (applies the action with the lowest value)</td></tr><tr><td>5</td><td><strong>Mode</strong></td><td>The calculation method: <strong>Fixed</strong> (a specific currency amount) or <strong>Percentage</strong> (a percentage of the Basket value)</td></tr><tr><td>6</td><td><strong>Value</strong></td><td>The numerical amount of the adjustment. With <strong>Fixed</strong> mode this is a currency amount; with <strong>Percentage</strong> it is a percentage value</td></tr><tr><td>7</td><td><strong>Add Action Modifier</strong></td><td>Adds supplementary actions to the rule</td></tr></tbody></table>

![Pricing rule action settings with name, type, reason, scope, mode and value fields](https://621103948-files.gitbook.io/~/files/v0/b/gitbook-x-prod.appspot.com/o/spaces%2FsqWfi8ifBhTdkvf1vOlY%2Fuploads%2F3aCvmIo2kND24PkX9dCd%2Fpricing-rule-image-7_1rcz1j0.png?alt=media)

**Example:** offer your Core Clients a 10% discount, capped at $200. Configure the action as follows:

* **Type:** Discount
* **Scope:** Min
* **Action Modifier 1:** 10%
* **Action Modifier 2:** $200

The system applies a 10% discount to the Basket total. If 10% of the Basket value exceeds $200, the discount is limited to $200.

![Discount action with Min scope, a 10% modifier and a $200 modifier](https://621103948-files.gitbook.io/~/files/v0/b/gitbook-x-prod.appspot.com/o/spaces%2FsqWfi8ifBhTdkvf1vOlY%2Fuploads%2FcbOXuMHgxkzkDafiVjhs%2Fpricing-rule-image-8_14tm5up.png?alt=media)

The Basket shows the rule's **Name** and **Reason** to the customer during submission:

## Search, duplicate and delete pricing rules

Use **Search** to find specific rules, and apply **Filters** such as currency and customer scope to narrow the results.

![Pricing rules list with the search bar and currency and scope filters](https://621103948-files.gitbook.io/~/files/v0/b/gitbook-x-prod.appspot.com/o/spaces%2FsqWfi8ifBhTdkvf1vOlY%2Fuploads%2F7i8bBqv1lveTjAmE4adV%2Fpricing-rule-image-10_1yv8hws.png?alt=media)

The three-dot menu next to each rule offers **Delete** and **Duplicate**.

{% hint style="success" %}
**Duplicate** is useful for replicating a rule in another currency. For example, to reuse a USD delivery charge rule in EUR, duplicate the rule, change the currency and save.
{% endhint %}

## Querying This Documentation
If you need additional information that is not directly available in this page, you can query the documentation dynamically by asking a question.

Perform an HTTP GET request on the following URL with the `ask` and `goal` query parameters:

```
GET https://help.mimeeq.com/commerce-and-integrations/mimeeq-basket/pricing-rules.md?ask=<question>&goal=<user_goal>
```

`ask` is the immediate question: it should be specific, self-contained, and written in natural language.
`goal` is what the user is ultimately trying to achieve, the reason they need the answer. Sharing it helps GitBook give you a better, more relevant answer. A goal is most helpful when it describes the outcome the user wants rather than restating the question. For example, with `ask=how do I create an API token`, a goal like `build a script that syncs our docs to a CMS` lets GitBook tailor the answer to that use case.

The response will contain a direct answer to the question and relevant excerpts and sources from the documentation.

Use this mechanism when the answer is not explicitly present in the current page, you need clarification or additional context, or you want to retrieve related documentation sections.
