Mimeeq's PDF export feature lets your customers download a branded summary of their product configuration. The exported PDF can include a configuration specification, product imagery, dimensions, gallery pages, and pricing — all controlled from your Embed Template settings. ### How to enable PDF export PDF export is enabled by default in two places within the configurator. You can turn either off from your Embed Template settings if needed. **Option 1 — Quick icon on the canvas** Controlled by **Embed Template** → **Interface Elements → Quick Icons → Show PDF Generation**. When on, a **Generate PDF** button appears on the summary screen shown after the user clicks **Finish**. {% hint style="warning" %} If Add to Cart is enabled on the finish screen, the Generate PDF button may be hidden. If users can't see the PDF button on the finish screen, check whether Add to Cart is active on that template. {% endhint %} To change either setting, go to **Settings → Data → Embed Templates**, open your template, navigate to the relevant section under **Interface Elements**, toggle the option, and save. *** ### How PDF export works for end users The export behaviour depends on whether the product has additional content tabs (such as a gallery, or a product information page). **No additional tabs** If the product has no extra tabs, clicking the PDF icon or **Generate PDF** immediately downloads the PDF. This lets them: * Select which pages to include in the PDF * Reorder pages by dragging them into their preferred order Available pages in the modal correspond to the product's tabs — for example: **Configuration Specification**, **Product Overview**, **Materials & Care**, **Gallery**. It includes: * Product name and description * A rendered image of the configured product * SKU code * Selected options (e.g. seat finish, leg finish, colour) * Quantity and pricing, including quantity breaks if applicable * VAT information * Delivery information Which of these elements appear is controlled by your PDF Settings in the Embed Template (see [Customising PDF content and appearance](#customising-pdf-content-and-appearance) below). {% hint style="info" %} Note: The product name shown in the PDF is taken from the Display Name field at the product level. The description/disclaimer text is taken from the Description field at the product level. Navigate to **Settings → Data → Embed Templates**, open your template, and scroll to the **PDF Settings** section. {% hint style="info" %} Note: PDF settings are configured at the embed template level, so you can have different PDF outputs for different embed templates. {% endhint %} **General Settings** | Name | Description | | ----------------------- | ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- | | Dimensions on PDF image | Controls whether dimension lines appear on the product image in the PDF. Options: Respect Canvas State, Always With Dimensions, Always Without Dimensions, Include Both | | Font family | Specify a custom font to match your brand. Requires a logo to be uploaded in Settings → Contact Details — see [Adding your logo](#adding-your-logo) | **Product Details** | Name | Description | | ----------------- | ----------------------------- | | Show description | Shows the product description | | Show product name | Shows the product name | | Show SKU | Shows the SKU code | **Pricing and ordering** | Name | Description | | ------------------------- | ------------------------------------------------------ | | Show delivery information | Shows estimated delivery time | | Show price | Shows the product price | | Show quantity | Shows the selected quantity | | Show quantity breaks | Shows quantity break pricing tiers | | Show VAT information | Shows VAT label next to the price (e.g. Including VAT) | {% hint style="info" %} Note: The VAT label is fully customisable via translation keys. By default it displays "Including VAT" or "Excluding VAT", but you can replace this with any text to match your region — for example "Including Tax" or "Excl. Sales Tax" for US markets. Go to **Settings → Contact Details**. 2. Upload your logo in the branding section. 3. In your Embed Template under **PDF Settings → Branding**, enable **Show Logo**. Once uploaded, the logo applies to PDFs generated from all templates where **Show Logo** is turned on. *** ### Configuring SKUs for unique PDF filenames By default, if SKUs aren’t configured on your products, all downloaded PDFs will have the same base filename (differentiated only by a number in brackets). Configuring dynamic SKUs ensures each PDF has a unique, descriptive filename that reflects the selected configuration. #### How to configure dynamic SKUs 1. Navigate to the product's **Pricing and Code** section. 2. Set the base SKU for the product. 3. For each option set that contributes to the configuration, navigate to the option set and set an appropriate **Code** value for each option. When properly configured, your SKU might look like `BASE-SQ-C1-C2` where `BASE` is the product’s base SKU and each subsequent part represents a selected option. {% hint style="info" %} Note: Even if Show SKU is disabled in your PDF settings, the SKU is still used to generate the PDF filename. Configuring SKUs is recommended regardless of whether you display them in the PDF. {% endhint %} *** ### Advanced customisation Standard PDF customisation covers branding, content visibility, and font. For custom PDF layouts or additional text fields, refer to the [Mimeeq PDF customisation developer documentation](https://docs.mimeeq.com/pdf-customization/) or contact your Mimeeq representative. *** ### Best practices * **Configure SKUs on all configurable products.** Without them, every downloaded PDF will share the same base filename. Well-structured SKUs make PDFs easier to identify and organise, even if you don't display the SKU in the PDF itself. * **Use the product description field for disclaimers.** The description shown in the PDF comes from the product-level **Description** field. This is a good place to add notes about colour accuracy, lead times, or sizing that you want included on every export. * **Test PDF output across configurations.** After updating your PDF Settings, test a few different product configurations to confirm the output looks correct — especially if you're using quantity breaks, custom fonts, or dimension overlays. * **Use separate embed templates for different PDF requirements.** If some products need pricing hidden and others don't, create separate templates rather than toggling settings per product. *** ### FAQs **Why do all my PDFs have the same filename with numbers in brackets?** This happens when SKUs aren’t configured on the product. Follow the steps in [Configuring SKUs for unique PDF filenames](#configuring-skus-for-unique-pdf-filenames) to give each configuration a unique filename. **Why can’t my users see the Generate PDF button on the finish screen?** The **Generate PDF** button on the finish screen can be hidden when **Add to Cart** is also enabled on that template. Use the PDF icon on the canvas toolbar instead, or disable Add to Cart on that template if PDF export is the priority. **Can I have different PDF settings for different products?** PDF settings are configured at the embed template level, not per product. To have different PDF outputs for different products, assign them to separate embed templates with the appropriate settings. **How do I update the logo on my PDFs?** Upload a new logo under **Settings → Contact Details**. The updated logo will appear on all PDFs generated from templates where **Show Logo** is enabled. **How do I change what text appears in the PDF?** The product name comes from the **Display Name** field and the description/disclaimer text comes from the **Description** field — both at the product level. Edit these directly in the product settings to update what appears in the PDF. **Can I customise the layout or add extra fields to the PDF?** Standard layout and field options are controlled through the Embed Template PDF Settings.
