# Multi-Currency & Markets
Learn how to configure Mimeeq's 3D product configurator with Shopify Markets to display accurate pricing in multiple currencies.

## Overview
This guide explains how to configure Mimeeq's 3D configurator with Shopify Markets to display region-specific pricing. Mimeeq supports two types of multi-market pricing:
* **Exchange Rate Method** - Currency conversion using fixed exchange rates
* **Multi-Market Mappings** - Fixed price list-based pricing for each market
## Choosing Your Pricing Method
### Exchange Rate Method
The Exchange Rate Method maintains a single pricing strategy across all markets, converting your base currency prices using fixed exchange rates.

**Use when:**
* Your product pricing is consistent globally
* Price differences are purely currency-based
* Exchange rate fluctuations don't significantly impact margins
### Multi-Market Mappings Method
The Multi-Market Mappings Method connects each Shopify market catalog to a specific Mimeeq Price List Group, enabling complete control over regional pricing.

**Use when:**
* Different markets require different price points
* You have region-specific cost structures
* Running market-specific promotions
## Comparison Example
**Scenario:** Selling a $1,000 USD desk to US, UK, and EU markets
| Method | US Market | UK Market | EU Market | Management |

| Exchange Rate | $1,000 | £769 (converted) | €926 (converted) | Update one price |
| Multi-Market | $1,000 | £850 (set manually) | €950 (set manually) | Update three prices |
With Exchange Rate Method, UK price is purely conversion-based. With Multi-Market Mappings, you can set £850 to account for higher UK shipping costs or market positioning.
## Method 1: Exchange Rate Setup Guide
When using Mimeeq with Shopify Markets, you need to understand these key concepts:
* Each Shopify store has a base currency (e.g., USD)
* Shopify Markets allows you to create different markets with different currencies
* Mimeeq templates can be assigned to specific markets
* When a product is added to cart, it must use the base currency pricing with Shopify handling the conversion
### Step 1: Create Price Lists in Mimeeq
Create separate price structures for each currency:
1. Create price lists for each currency:
* US dollar price list
* British pound price list
* Euro price list
2. Create public price list groups for each currency:
* USD public price list group
* GBP public price list group
* EUR public price list group
3. Create embed templates for each currency:
* Template "Shopify public USD" → USD public price list group
* Template "Shopify public GBP" → GBP public price list group
* Template "Shopify public EUR" → EUR public price list group
### Step 2: Configure Shopify Theme for Default Market
1. Navigate to your Shopify theme customization
2. Add your default template to the configurator embed
3. Enter your default template name (e.g., "Shopify public USD")
4. Save the settings
### Step 3: Configure Market-Specific Templates
1. Use the market dropdown at the top of the Shopify theme screen to switch markets
2. Override the template for each market:
* UK market → "Shopify public GBP" template
* EU market → "Shopify public EUR" template
3. Save for each market
### Step 4: Configure Price Calculation for Cart
Shopify requires all cart additions in base currency:
1. Go to the Mimeeq app in your Shopify admin
2. Under Primary Settings, find "Override Price Group"
3. Copy the ID from your base currency price list group (USD)
4. Paste into the Override Price Group field
5. Save settings
### Step 5: Align Exchange Rates
Ensure consistent pricing between configurator and checkout:
1. In Shopify Markets settings, configure fixed exchange rates (not dynamic)
2. In Mimeeq, navigate to Settings → Pricing → Exchange Rates
3. Enter the same exchange rates you configured in Shopify

## Method 2: Multi-Market Mappings Setup
### Step 1: Access Multi-Market Mappings
Open the Mimeeq app in your Shopify admin panel and navigate to **Extension Settings > Multi-Market Pricing**.
### Step 2: Map Catalogs to Price Lists
For each market you want to configure:
1. Select the Shopify catalog from the dropdown
2. Copy from the Mimeeq App and paste corresponding Public Price List Group ID
3. Click **Save Mapping**
### Step 3: Verify Your Mappings
Review the mapping table to confirm all markets are correctly configured:

## How It Works for Customers
### Exchange Rate Method Flow
1. Customer visits from the UK
2. Shopify detects location and shows UK market
3. Mimeeq configurator loads "Shopify public GBP" template
4. Prices displayed in GBP based on exchange rates
5. Add to cart converts to USD (base currency)
6. Shopify converts USD back to GBP for display
7. Customer sees consistent GBP pricing throughout
### Multi-Market Mappings Flow
1. Customer visits from the UK
2. Shopify detects location and shows UK market
3. System loads UK catalog mapped to "UK Premium Pricing" group
4. Prices displayed directly from UK Price List Group
5. Add to cart uses UK-specific pricing
6. Customer sees UK market pricing throughout checkout

Important: When a product is added to cart, Mimeeq automatically synchronizes prices across all mapped catalogs. This means if a customer adds a product while in the UK market, then switches to the EU market, Shopify will display the correct EU catalog price because all catalogs were updated simultaneously during the add-to-cart operation.

## Troubleshooting
### Exchange Rate Method
**Price discrepancies between configurator and cart?**
* Verify exchange rates match between Mimeeq and Shopify
* Confirm correct Override Price Group ID is set
* Ensure templates are correctly assigned to markets
* Check that Shopify uses fixed (not dynamic) rates
### Multi-Market Mappings
**Prices not updating for different markets?**
* Verify catalog mappings are saved correctly
* Confirm Price Lists are set to Active
* Check that Shopify Markets catalogs are properly configured
